Blokus Trigon

(Joanne, Gina) x2, (Joanne, Gina, Kevin, Karen)

This game is more or less the same concept as regular Blokus, except the pieces are made from triangle segments. Though the rules are basically the same, I was challenged because the game seemed so familiar but was so different at the same time. I had no idea how to use my differently shaped pieces for attack or defense and had to puzzle out the game all over again. I think any fan of regular Blokus would enjoy this one too.

Thurn & Taxis

(Chris, Robert, Nick)

10 Days in the USA

(Kevin, Karen)

Ticket to Ride:1910

(Kevin, Karen, Robert, Nick, Chris)

We played the "Big Cities" variant. In this version, the only tickets that are used are those that have one of the Big Cities (New York, Chicago, LA, etc.) at one end of the route. The idea is to make the game more competitive by forcing more players to connect to the same cities. However, I think we had some unusual luck in how the tickets were dealt out in this game, because we spent more turns drawing tickets than in a regular game of TTR. I didn't see as much tight competitiveness for routes to the Big Cities as I would have expected. All four of my tickets at the beginning of the game, for example, had Chicago as one end of the route. I think at least one of us had something similar. At the end, only 5 tickets remained undrawn, and we each had 6-8 tickets in our hand.
