Power Grid: Germany

(August, Greg S., Bart, Robert, Marshall, Chris)

We played this game on the German map and dealt in some of the expansion power cards, but correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think any of them made it into the current market. This game featured a lucrative early market with a steady stream of nice plants for sale. I was able to pick up a 2 oil for 5 cities, and a 1 nuke for 5 cities plant. None of the resources became terribly expensive, and the nuke even got down to $1 for a lot of the game. Consequently I was running very efficiently for a long time and was able to jump from 10 cities to 14 to end the game and win by powering 13. The game was even in Step 2 still.

Settlers of Catan

(Marshall, Bart, August, Robert)

With this play Settlers becomes one of the few games to get played in every year of the group. In this game the Largest Army never even got claimed. It was the Longest Road that went between Bart, August, and Robert, eventually ending up with Robert and combining with 3 cities and 2 settlements for the win.

Age of Empires III

(Bart, Robert, August, Marshall)

After Settlers we broke out AOE3. I explained the rules and we were off to a fairly quick paced game. Robert and I both sent soldiers to the new world and had some battles. August concentrated on Missionary work, and Bart got trade goods going. We each seemed to do a little bit of discovering. There was always a lot of competition for the trade goods and spots on the colony ship. Scoring first in four colonies during the final scoring, combined with a descent trade goods score was enough for me to get the win. Looking forward to playing this one again.
